The Senior Data Science Developer will participate in product teams to analyze system requirements, architect, design, code, and implement cloud-based data and analytics products that conform to established standards. This role focuses on delivering scalable, cloud-native solutions using Azure and Databricks technologies. The position supports modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy data pipelines from Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory to Databricks-based solutions leveraging Delta Lake and lakehouse architecture principles.
The role also promotes best practices through reusable frameworks, code reviews, and knowledge transfer.
- Analyze systems requirements and architect cloud-based data and analytics solutions
- Design, create, and maintain cloud-based data lake and lakehouse structures
- Build automated data pipelines and analytics models
- Support migration from Azure Synapse and Azure Data Factory to Databricks (Delta Lake)
- Develop reusable frameworks and standards to streamline pipeline creation
- Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards
- Liaise with IT colleagues to resolve operational issues and support business partners
- Analyze complex technical issues and recommend solutions
- Prepare and conduct knowledge transfer sessions
- Experience with multiple cloud-based data and analytics platforms (Azure preferred)
- Experience designing and maintaining cloud-based data lakes and lake houses
- Strong background building and orchestrating data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks
- Demonstrated experience organizing data in a lakehouse following medallion architecture
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools
- Experience conducting peer code reviews using Git Hub
- Experience assessing IT needs and resolving complex, multi-component failures
- Experience working on Agile teams
- Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog for governance
- Experience preparing documentation and conducting knowledge transfer
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal skills to evaluate and discuss solution approaches
