Senior Mainframe DBA / Mainframe Consultant

Extension: Not anticipated (conversion planned)

Schedule: Mon–Fri, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (occasional Sunday implementation support)

Location: Hybrid – Toronto, ON (onsite Tuesdays; may increase)

Overtime: Pre-approved; limited on‑call depending on skill level

Seeking a Senior Mainframe DBA / Consultant to support day‑to‑day mainframe database operations within Infrastructure Operations. The role provides subject matter expertise in IMS, DB2, and CICS environments, offering technical guidance on database administration, performance optimization, and application integration in a z/OS environment.

• Provide database administration support for IMS, DB2, and/or CICS
• Support selection, design, development, and integration of mainframe databases
• Partner with development teams on database‑related enhancements and troubleshooting
• Provide technical guidance on database software updates and maintenance
• Assist in performance tuning, capacity analysis, and issue resolution
• Collaborate with vendors and operations teams for incident resolution
• Participate in weekend implementations as required

• 3+ years of experience in one or more of IMS, DB2, or CICS (Oracle + DB2 combined acceptable)
• 3+ years working in a z/OS TSO/ISPF environment
• 3+ years of experience with mainframe tools (MACRO4, DB2/IMS admin tools, IBM APA or equivalent)
• 3+ years of experience with code/change management processes (Service Now, Endevor)
• Strong understanding of mainframe application development (COBOL required; assembler an asset)
• Strong communication skills and team collaboration experience

• Easytrieve, SAS, DB2 Connect, TOAD
• Knowledge of CA-7 job scheduling
• Banking or financial services experience
