Associate Director, Data and Architecture Services - Capital Markets
Overview
Opportunity: The Associate Director, Data and Architecture Services - Capital Markets will join the Data Content and Modeling team. The role focuses on documenting data requirements, identifying data gaps, supporting dataset registration, ingestion and consumption processes to satisfy requirements for the capital markets business, supporting regulatory compliance, and the overall CM data strategy to improve data quality and controls. Responsibilities include standardizing data within the capital markets domain (including, but not limited to, trade data, reference data (client, book, instrument), payments, risk, and other structured and unstructured datasets used for analytics).
Whatwill you do?
- Document data requirements and identify gaps in collaboration with stakeholders from various departments
- Design and develop sophisticated data models for trade data related to various financial instruments, ensuring alignment with business needs and regulatory requirements
- Standardize data within the capital markets domain, including trade data, reference data, payments, and other structured/unstructured datasets
- Develop and maintain data catalogs using industry-standard tools and frameworks
- Define data formats to support standardized reporting and integrate them with existing systems
- Identify and document system lineage, data flows, and control points to ensure data integrity and security
- Analyze data quality issues and recommend solutions to improve data accuracy and completeness
Must-have
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data modeling, with a strong preference for candidates with capital markets experience
- Expert knowledge of financial products, trade lifecycle, and market data
- Demonstrated experience in modeling trade data using industry-standard protocols and schemas such as FpML, ISDA CDM, FIX, SWIFT, or ISO
20022 - Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, Power Designer, IBM Data Architect) and familiarity with database technologies (SQL, No
SQL) - Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders
- Understanding of financial regulations (e.g., GDPR, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank) and their impact on data management
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are considered an asset
- Knowledge of industry data standards like FpML, CDM, ISO 20022
- Advanced understanding of change management principles and business operations
