Scotiabank’s Canadian Digital Engineering organization is building the next generation of customer experiences across our web, mobile, and marketing channels. As a Senior Software Architect
, you will provide architectural leadership across a diverse set of platforms supporting Digital Commerce
, Digital Communications
, and Personalization within Canadian Banking. You will be responsible for defining and guiding end-to-end architecture for customer-facing capabilities such as journey orchestration, personalized offers, digital product discovery and digital communications. Your work will be critical in ensuring our solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and deeply integrated with Scotiabank's enterprise ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain the target architecture and technical roadmap for the Digital Commerce, Communications, and Personalization domains
  • Provide hands‑on architectural guidance across multiple cross‑functional engineering squads
  • Collaborate with product managers, delivery leads, and business stakeholders to translate business goals into technology solutions
  • Design reusable and extensible service‑based and event‑driven architectures
  • Partner with data, infrastructure, security, and enterprise architecture teams to align on patterns, governance, and compliance
  • Evaluate new technologies and frameworks that enhance our ability to deliver performant and personalized digital experiences
  • Support architecture reviews, code quality assessments, and Dev Ops maturity across teams
  • Mentor architects and developers and foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years in an architecture or technical leadership role
  • Deep expertise in designing and integrating distributed systems using modern frameworks and cloud platforms
  • Strong experience in delivering technical solutions in content management solutions, creative content creation and delivery, digital messaging (email, push and sms), customer journey orchestration, or e‑commerce
  • Proven experience with microservices, event streaming (e.g., Kafka), APIs, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Experience Manager, Salesforce Marketing Cloud
    , or similar Mar Tech ecosystems
  • Working knowledge of other Mar Tech tools (e.g. Adobe Target, Adobe Analytics, Contentful, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, authentication, security, and compliance in a regulated industry
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and technical teams alike
  • Passion for solving complex technical challenges in ways that deliver real customer value
