About the Role
Workday is seeking a Principal Data and Analytics Security Architect who will drive the development and implementation of a comprehensive security strategy for Workday's corporate data and analytics ecosystem. This role will be pivotal in safeguarding sensitive data across our data and AI platforms, as well as our broader analytics tools and integrations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Data & AI Platforms, Data Engineering, Data Science & Innovation, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Security, Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA), etc.
to ensure robust security practices are embedded throughout the data lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities:
Security Strategy and Architecture:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive data and analytics security architecture aligned with industry best practices and Workday's security policies.
Define security standards, policies, and procedures for data access, encryption, and protection across all data platforms and tools.
Lead the design and implementation of security controls for our data and AI platforms, ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Risk Management and Compliance:
Conduct and/or participate in security assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
Develop and maintain a data security incident response plan.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with other teams within Workday to integrate security into data and analytics workflows.
Provide security guidance and expertise to stakeholders across the organization.
Communicate security risks and mitigation strategies to senior management.
Technology Evaluation and Implementation:
Evaluate and recommend security technologies and solutions to enhance data protection.
Partner with Enterprise Security on security review processes for technologies to be implemented
Lead the implementation and integration of security tools and platforms.
Work closely with the other EDS teams to secure implemented products.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in data and analytics security architecture.
10+ years of experience with data security principles, practices, and technologies.
Extensive experience with AWS, cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks) and analytics tools (e.g. Tableau, Sigma).
Strong knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA).

Qualifications:
Ability to establish data and analytics security best practices
Experience working collaboratively with third-party vendors as well as data scientists, ML/data/platform engineers, software engineers, product development, and cloud operations teams.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to influence and mentor others.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting in technical environments.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP).
Experience in a SaaS environment.
Experience with data loss prevention tools.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
