Information Architect/Data Modeler

Client division is seeking an experienced Information Architect/Data Modeler to support its global data strategy. This role focuses on the Investment Data Lake, enabling better insights, product development, and operational efficiency through robust data modeling and architecture. The position will report to the Director of Information Architecture and play a hands-on role in designing and implementing enterprise-grade data models.
Key Responsibilitie

- Translate business needs into scalable, long-term data models.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, and developers to design conceptual, logical, and physical data models and database schemas.
- Support data strategy implementation by building data flows and partnering with application development teams.
- Maintain and optimize existing data models and metadata documentation.
- Create and enforce best practices for naming conventions, data standardization, and modeling consistency.
- Ensure data model clarity across project teams and communicate interdependencies and constraints.
- Perform reverse engineering of data models from existing databases and SQL scripts.
- Evaluate data models and physical schemas for discrepancies and optimize as needed.
- Manage and document data definitions and data lineage for key data tables.
- Provide technical guidance to analysts, engineers, and developers on data-related initiatives.
- Analyze system integration issues and recommend data-driven solutions.
- Promote reuse of existing data models where applicable.
- 5–8 years of IT experience with a minimum of 4 years in data model design.
- Hands-on experience with business intelligence, data warehousing, and big data technologies.
- Expertise in data modeling using tools such as Power Designer or Erwin.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, Azure solutions, and Databricks.
- Experience working in RDBMS, Hadoop, and analytics environments.
- Proficient in developing and optimizing conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Solid understanding of OLAP, reporting, and analytics principles.
- Strong communication skills — both verbal and written.
- High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a results-oriented mindset.
- Experience in wealth management or capital markets.
- Familiarity with Hortonworks or Cloudera Hadoop platforms.
- Relevant data or cloud certifications if available.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
