Senior Software Developer, Defensive Security

We are currently seeking a Senior Developer to join our rapidly growing Defensive Security team. The Application Security team is responsible for emulating real-world adversaries to proactively discover, exploit, and help remediate critical security vulnerabilities across our applications. We provide an essential adversarial perspective, challenging our defences and partnering with development teams to eliminate flaws before they can be abused.
This role is for someone who is passionate about building innovative solutions and being exposed to new challenges and technologies while making an impact. This role is available to candidates across Canada. If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto) you will be expected to be in office minimum two days per week for our Anchor Days.
What you’ll do:- Bring strong, senior level development experience to the Application Security Team
- Develop and implement tools to help educate, reduce toil, and prevent security flaws
- Provide detailed guidance and support to teams in vulnerability remediation along with remediating vulnerabilities in core codebases
- Bring experience into Clio’s application security teams and advise on security best practices
- Experience in secure software development; application security; and security tools development and implementation, especially in the CI/CD environment
- Experience in some combination of the following disciplines: cloud security, threat modelling, and architecture review
- A love for learning and developing creative security solutions for a fast growing, continuous integration environment that hits upwards of 50 deployments a day
- Contribute to growing security awareness and knowledge amongst the product organization
- Identify, improve, and implement tools for automated application scanning, static analysis, and custom tooling
- Elevate and educate our security culture within Clio, contributing to our cultural values of “Lead with Context” and “Get Better Every Day”
- 5+ years experience with Ruby, Python, Java script or other equivalent modern languages and tools
- A keen interest in improving your craft using AI

- Expected salary range for this role is $149,600 to $176,000 to $202,400 CAD.
