Role – Pre-Trade Business Analyst
Location – Toronto, ON. ( days Onsite)Grade – Subcon (Contractor)JD:
Key ResponsibilitiesEngage directly with Directors and Managing Directors on the trading floor to elicit detailed business requirements and understand complex trading workflowsConduct comprehensive analysis of pre-trade systems and data flows across Cash Equities, FX, FICC, and CommoditiesDocument current state business processes and identify opportunities for optimization and data enhancementLead stakeholder workshops and requirements sessions with senior trading personnelConduct comprehensive gap analyses between current state data capabilities and business requirementsAnalyze pre-trade data structures and FIX message protocols to ensure accurate data capture and transformationCollaborate with technology teams to design and implement data pipelines feeding into the enterprise data lakeAssess data quality, completeness, and timeliness of pre-trade information flowsCreate detailed functional specifications and process documentation to guide system design and development decisionsFollow up persistently on outstanding deliverables and action items to ensure project completionBuild and maintain strong working relationships with trading desks, technology teams, and data management groupsFacilitate communication between business and technology teams throughout project lifecyclesMust Have Required QualificationsMinimum - years of experience in capital markets or financial services technology with demonstrated analytical experienceDemonstrated ability to interact effectively with senior executives (Director/MD level) in fast-paced trading environmentsDeep understanding of Cash Equities markets with demonstrated knowledge across FX, Fixed Income, Credit, and Commodities tradingExpert knowledge of financial products, trade lifecycle & market data with strong familiarity with pre-trade systems, order management workflows, and market data distribution.Hands-on experience with industry-standard communication protocols like FIX (Financial Information Exchange), FpML (Financial Productions Markup Language), SWIFT, ISDA CDM etc.Tenacious follow-through and ability to drive results in matrix organization structuresExperience conducting comprehensive gap analyses and creating detailed impact assessmentsExperience with business process modeling tools and methodologiesAbility to create compelling data visualizations and analytical reportsGood to Have skillsUnderstanding of financial regulations ( GDPR, MIFID II, Dodd-Frank)Proven experience working in data analytics environments, particularly with large-scale data lake implementationsStrong data analysis skills including proficiency with SQL, Python, R, or similar analytical toolsEducation & CertificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Statistics, or related quantitative field; advanced degree preferredProfessional certifications in business analysis (CBAP, PMI-PBA),
project management (PMP), or data analysis are advantageous
