As a Design Strategist, you will lead the creation of innovative, high‑quality, and user‑centered digital experiences that meet our clients’ objectives. You will oversee a team of UI/UX designers, ensuring professional growth and development, while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. Your strategic insights and design expertise will drive the development of design standards, best practices, and cohesive design systems, ensuring timely and budget‑conscious project delivery.
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $130k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of innovative, user‑centered digital experiences for clients across various industries.
- Mentor and manage a team of UI/UX designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Collaborate proactively with clients and cross‑functional teams (Product, Development, Marketing) to understand business goals, user needs, and project requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and evangelize design standards, best practices, and scalable design systems.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and quality standards to ensure successful delivery.
- Stay abreast of the latest design trends, tools, and methodologies to continually elevate the quality of work.
- Facilitate workshops, user research, and usability testing to inform and validate design solutions.
- Advocate for user‑centered design principles throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements:
- A seasoned UX design professional with 12+ years of experience
, including a minimum of 8+
years in leadership roles
. - Demonstrated success in delivering high‑quality, engaging, and user‑focused digital experiences.
- Experienced in leading cross‑functional teams from concept to launch.
- Knowledgeable in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD
, or equivalent. - Well‑versed in Agile methodologies and project management practices.
- Possessing excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Familiar with the financial services, insurance, or technology sectors (preferred but not mandatory).
- Passionate about user‑centered design principles and UX best practices.
Preferred, but not required:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human‑Computer Interaction
, or related fields. - Strong problem‑solving skills with a creative mindset.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- An eye for detail and a relentless focus on quality.
- Exceptional communication skills to articulate design concepts and influence stakeholders.
