This position is provisionally Onsite, requiring 7.25 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.
The Ontario Public Service (OPS) seeks a Senior UX Designer to lead user experience and interface design for complex digital products and services. This role involves creating intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing interfaces optimized for web and mobile platforms. The successful candidate will conduct user research, design thinking workshops, and usability testing to inform design decisions. You will collaborate with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver functional, user-centered solutions aligned with OPS standards and accessibility requirements.
Scope- Design user interfaces and experiences for digital products, ensuring usability and accessibility.
- Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing; synthesize findings into actionable insights.
- Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and design systems for multi-device platforms.
- Ensure compliance with AODA/WCAG 2.1 standards and OPS design guidelines.
- High-fidelity prototypes and design assets for web and mobile applications.
- User research reports, personas, and journey maps.
- Approved design documentation and specifications for development teams.
- Proven experience as a UX/UI Designer for web and mobile applications.
- Proficiency with Figma and other design/prototyping tools.
- Strong understanding of design systems, responsive design, and accessibility standards (AODA/WCAG).
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and synthesizing findings into design deliverables.
- Familiarity with Agile product development cycles (Discovery, Beta, Live).
- Knowledge of front-end technologies and constraints for web development.
- Ability to mentor and coach team members on UX best practices.
