Solution Architect – Application Security & Cloud (Contract)

Location: Hybrid – Toronto and Scarborough, ON (minimum 2 days onsite per week)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (37.5 hours/week)

Start: ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking a hands‑on Solution Architect to support enterprise Application Security initiatives within a Cloud and Platform Engineering environment. This role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing secure, scalable IT solutions that support vulnerability detection, static code analysis, SBOM generation, and cloud based security tooling.

This is an ideal opportunity for an architect with a strong development or system integration background who enjoys getting into the technical details and bridging engineering with architecture.

What You Will Do

• Design scalable, robust IT solutions aligned to application security and cloud platform requirements
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the solution lifecycle
• Collaborate with engineering teams, security stakeholders, and delivery partners to translate business requirements into technical designs
• Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise architecture standards, security best practices, and regulatory requirements
• Identify design risks and recommend mitigation strategies
• Stay current with emerging technologies, security tools, and architecture patterns to drive continuous improvement

Must Have Skills

• 7+ years of experience in IT architecture, solution design, and implementation
• 2+ years of experience with networking and IT security best practices
• 5+ years of experience with modern design patterns including microservices, APIs, and enterprise integration patterns

Nice to Have

• TOGAF certification or formal architecture training
• Hands‑on development experience with Python or Java
• Application Security experience (DAST, SCA, SBOM, vulnerability management)
• 2+ years of experience designing cloud architectures on enterprise scale initiatives including hybrid or multi‑cloud environments

• Someone who can assess problems independently, explore tooling hands‑on, and design practical solutions
• An architect who understands how large‑scale enterprise solutions work end to end, not just at a conceptual level
• Comfortable working across infrastructure, cloud platforms, security tools, and integration layers

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Clear communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Ability to lead discussions, influence design decisions, and manage competing priorities

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
• TOGAF considered an asset
