Position: PostgreSQL Senior Database Administrator (DBA)

Description:

Marsh McLennan’s Database Services team is growing rapidly, and we have an exciting opportunity for a creative and inquisitive Senior Database Administrator skilled in Postgres and Oracle. This hybrid role requires 3 days in-office in Canada and offers the chance to work on a global team responsible for critical enterprise database systems.

We will count on you to:

Manage, optimize, and ensure the high availability of Postgre

SQL databases hosted on Linux and cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).

Lead complex database migration projects from Oracle to Postgre

SQL, including performance tuning and high-availability configurations.

Implement advanced Postgre

SQL features such as partitioning, indexing strategies, query tuning, and replication to optimize performance at scale.

Oversee configuration and management of cloud-based Postgre

SQL offerings and maintain disaster recovery solutions with RTO & RPO considerations.

Utilize Postgre

SQL extensions (e.g., PostGIS, , _statements) and support Oracle DB features like RMAN, Export/Import, and Triggers.

Contribute to automation initiatives by researching and presenting new technologies to enhance database strategy and operations.

What you need to have:

5+ years of Postgre

SQL database experience, including at least 3 years working in cloud environments.

Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience migrating Oracle databases to Postgre

SQL.

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.

Extensive experience as a Senior Postgre

SQL/Oracle Database Engineer, with a strong focus on migrating Oracle databases to Postgre

SQL.

Solid knowledge of relational database management systems and cloud computing architecture.

Skilled in database design, cloud computing, and Data Lake Architecture.

What makes you stand out:

Advanced expertise in Postgre

SQL internals and performance tuning, including query execution plans, autovacuum settings, and complex transaction management.

Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible is a plus.

Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for automation and continuous improvement in database technologies.

Experience with Mongo DB or MySQL is preferred

All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $96,600 to $146,600.The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
