Job Description
What is the opportunity? The Director of Data Strategy will be responsible for leading the development of the business data strategy in collaboration with the business partners and Data Management Offices to drive business growth, operational efficiency, and innovation. This role requires a visionary leader who can align data initiatives with business objectives, foster a data-driven culture, and ensure the organization leverages data as a strategic asset.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategy, data management, and analytics, coupled with exceptional leadership and
communication skills. The aim is to transform RBC’s journey by ensuring that data is recognized and treated as a strategic asset and is utilized to its fullest potential as a key driver of innovation and sustained competitive advantage, while complying to appropriate standards and policies.
What will you do?Guide the development and documentation of business data strategy, in collaboration with relevant stakeholdersReview data trends, best practices and emerging data technologies and capabilities across the industry, incorporating innovation to continuously enhance data strategy while supporting evolving business objectivesManage relationships with business stakeholders and build deep understanding of their data needs across the Bank and communicate new data requirements, decisions and/or strategies effectivelyIdentify opportunities to use data to create innovative solutions, improve customer experience, operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and regulatory complianceChampion the importance of data throughout the organization by promoting awareness and demonstrating the value of data insights in business outcomes, identify gaps in the existing landscape and provide recommendationsServe as a trusted advisor to executives, senior business leaders, and cross-functional teamsLead working groups to align data priorities and resolve obstaclesWhat do you need to succeed? Must Have10+ years’ experience with Data and Business strategy developmentDetailed knowledge of financial services and experience in using data to drive business outcomesBroad understanding of data management principles, including data governance, architecture, and integrationAbility to develop content and tailor messaging for an executive audience (e.g. storyboarding/ strategic storytelling)Expert PowerPoint skillsA strong aptitude and desire for learningExceptional people influence skills, including the ability to collaborate with multiple teams and communicate effectively across all levels of the organizationPost-Secondary education or equivalentNice to HavePrevious consulting experience with an industry leading firmExternal perspective on emerging data trendsBroad knowledge financial services information systems, data management applications, and “big data” tools such as Teradata, Collibra, SQL, Python, Snowflake, etc.What’s in it for you?
