OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Windows Specialist to support and enhance a highly sensitive Physical Security application and infrastructure environment within a large financial services organization. This role focuses on the stability, security, and compliance of Windows-based systems supporting physical access control and security operations.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across Windows Server, Active Directory, MS SQL Server, virtualization, and security controls
, and will work closely with cyber security, physical security, and infrastructure teams to ensure resilient, compliant, and secure operations.
This role is well-suited for a technically advanced professional who thrives in regulated environments, understands the intersection of cyber and physical security, and can independently manage complex infrastructure components.
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
Contract Length: 6 Months (Extension Possible)
Hours: 7.5 hours/day
Pay Rate: $80-90/hour
- Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments supporting physical security systems.
- Manage Active Directory design and operations, including GPOs, authentication, permissions, and access controls.
- Oversee MS SQL Server environments, including deployments, patching, monitoring, performance tuning, and disaster recovery.
- Implement and enforce security controls across endpoints, servers, firewalls, antivirus, SIEM, and vulnerability management tools.
- Ensure systems meet regulatory and audit requirements aligned with PCI DSS, SOX, GLBA, ISO 27001, and NIST frameworks.
- Support audit activities by providing evidence, documentation, and control validation.
- Maintain and enhance virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox).
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot firewalls and core network components.
- Maintain backup solutions, recovery plans, and business continuity processes.
- Coordinate with physical security teams to support access control systems, CCTV, badge systems, and related integrations.
- Provide technical support for physical security application incidents and system changes.
- Develop and maintain Power Shell scripts to automate operational and security tasks.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, policies, procedures, and architectural diagrams.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support to IT and security teams.
- 3+ years of hands‑on administration experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and MS SQL Server.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, OSI model, firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches).
- Proven experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox).
- Power Shell automation experience for system administration and security tasks.
- Experience supporting regulatory compliance and security audits.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience integrating physical security systems with IT infrastructure.
- Background working closely with cyber security and physical security teams.
- Familiarity with emerging cyber threats, risk management, and security best practices.
- Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365) is an asset.

- Prior experience within financial services or other regulated environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
