Senior Privacy and Information Consultant
Our client in the public sector is seeking a contract based Privacy and Information Management consultant. Focus will be on privacy, info management and protection.
Location:
Hybrid 2 - 3d Toronto
Duration: 7 months
Responsibilities- Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), including:
Scope definition, Data flows and information lifecycle mapping, Privacy risk identification, Mitigation strategies, Formal documentation and sign-offs - Produce Privacy Summary Reports highlighting executive-level risks, decisions, and status.
- Research and interpret federal, provincial, and municipal privacy and information management legislation
. - Prepare legislative research memoranda outlining statutory requirements and implications for services.
- Consult and collaborate with Legal Services and corporate partners to support consistent interpretation and application.
- Perform compliance assessments of programs, services, and technology initiatives against:
Privacy obligations, Information management policies, Open government and access principles - Conduct policy gap analyses
, identifying risks, gaps, and remediation options. - Author or recommend updates to privacy and information management policies, standards, and procedures.
- Provide guidance on information lifecycle management
, accountable record-keeping, access, and protection. - Support significant initiatives through consultation, issue monitoring, and participation in task groups and committees.
- Manage assigned work streams, timelines, and deliverables related to privacy and information management initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with legal, business, technical, and external government stakeholders.
- Demonstrated expertise in Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
- Strong understanding of information lifecycle management
, privacy protection, and open government principles. - Experience advising on information collection, use, disclosure, retention, and protection.
- Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal statutes, regulations, and codes related to privacy and information management.
- Experience conducting legislative research and translating legal requirements into practical guidance.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with legal teams on interpretation and application.
- Experience reviewing programs, services, and technology initiatives for compliance with information management and privacy requirements.
- Proven ability to identify policy gaps and recommend remediation strategies.
- Experience authoring or contributing to policies, standards, or governance frameworks.
- Knowledge of accountable record-keeping, information access, and quality assurance requirements.
- Familiarity with technology-enabled service delivery and associated privacy considerations.
