The Manager, Infrastructure and Cloud Services, leads the firm’s data center and cloud infrastructure operations and evolution to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable technology services that support legal professionals and business teams across Stikeman Elliott. This role plans and delivers infrastructure strategy and roadmaps; manages the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of servers, storage, network, backup/DR, and cloud services; governs service levels;

and directs a team of engineers and vendors to meet performance, availability, and compliance requirements in a law firm environment.

Principal

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Director, Cloud & Application Services to support and contribute to the development of operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning Infrastructure/Cloud projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Benchmark, analyze, and report on infrastructure and cloud performance; recommend improvements to drive reliability, scalability, and growth.
  • Oversee financial management of infrastructure and cloud services, including procurement and invoice approvals.
  • Control, monitor, and forecast infrastructure budgets; support the annual planning cycle and development of the budget.
  • Develop business cases and cost/benefit analyses for infrastructure investments and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for infrastructure and cloud services, including architecture standards, disaster recovery, purchasing, and service provisioning.
  • Lead the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrades, and support of all infrastructure and cloud platforms, including servers, operating systems, enterprise storage, application servers, and system monitoring tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define business and system requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Direct research and evaluation of potential technology solutions to inform procurement decisions.
  • Manage Cloud and Infrastructure team to meet agreed service levels for incidents, problems, and requests.
  • Job Specifications:

    Knowledge and

    Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Technology or related field.
  • Relevant certifications strongly preferred: MCSE, CCNA, ITIL. PMP knowledge and/or certification is an asset.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive experience managing enterprise infrastructure and cloud services in a complex, security- and compliance-focused environment; law firm or professional services experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated success planning and implementing DR/BCP, backups/restores, and major infrastructure upgrades/migrations.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing strategic vendors.
  • Skills and Abilities:

  • Enterprise infrastructure domains: servers/OS, virtualization, enterprise storage, networking, monitoring/observability, backups/DR, and cloud services.
  • Familiarity with leading ecosystems and platforms and firm vendor landscape (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, Juniper, Net App, Commvault, Veeam, HPE).
  • Strong understanding of data privacy practices, system security, and related laws/regulations as they pertain to technology infrastructure in a legal context.
  • Strategic planning, budgeting, and financial stewardship.
  • Project management (delivery to scope/schedule/budget; PMP knowledge an asset).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication with both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, particularly during incidents and maintenance windows.
  • Salary Range (Toronto Only):

    $120,000 - $140,000 annually.
