Head of IT

Industrial Brothers is looking for a Head of IT to lead our technology operations and strategy ensuring that our infrastructure systems and security empower world‑class animation production. If you’re an experienced IT leader who thrives at the intersection of technology and creativity this is your chance to shape how our studio works today and evolves for tomorrow.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the vision: Define and execute Industrial Brothers long‑term IT roadmap aligning technology infrastructure with studio growth, production scalability, and creative innovation.
  • Build strong systems: Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of on‑premises and virtualized environments (Windows, Linux, and containerized).
  • Champion modernization: Drive the migration from legacy systems to hybrid storage and cloud‑based backup solutions that enhance performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate across the floor: Partner closely with studio leadership, Production Pipeline, and creative teams to ensure seamless operations and smart technology decisions.
  • Ensure security & continuity: Maintain high‑availability systems, proactive disaster recovery plans, and strong digital security practices across all environments.
  • Optimize operations: Manage Active Directory, LDAP, DNS/DHCP, NAS systems, and networking infrastructure (VLANs, OPNsense, Cloudflare tunnels) to ensure efficiency and resilience.
  • Empower the team: Lead and mentor the IT and Systems teams fostering a culture of collaboration, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive accountability: Oversee IT budgeting, procurement, vendor management, and compliance with security and licensing standards.
  • Collaborate externally: Work with Boat Rocker Studios and other partners on network interoperability, infrastructure alignment, and joint technology initiatives.
  • Support production: Partner with the Head of Pipeline to align IT systems with production tools and workflows from Maya and Houdini to compositing and editorial systems.
What You Bring
  • Excellent communicator who can bridge technology and creative teams.
  • Proven success leading IT infrastructure for animation, VFX, or post‑production environments.
  • Expertise in Linux and Windows Server administration, virtualization (Proxmox, Xen, ESXi), storage systems (TrueNAS, Qumulo, NFS, SMB, ZFS), networking (VLANs, OPNsense, VPN, DHCP/DNS, Cloudflare tunnels), scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Power Shell), backup and recovery (rclone, Oracle Cloud, Duplicati).
  • Strong understanding of production software licensing, render management, and CG pipeline integration.
  • Proven experience managing hybrid infrastructure and executing IT modernization strategies.
  • Solid grasp of cybersecurity, encryption, and network segmentation best practices.
  • Calm, pragmatic problem‑solver who can manage both people and systems with precision.
Experience
  • 10 years of progressive IT systems experience, including 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Background in animation, gaming, VFX, or media production highly valued.
  • Experience collaborating with large media partners (Boat Rocker, Jam Filled, Moonbug, etc.) a plus.
  • Certifications in networking, virtualization, or information security (CompTIA, VMware, Fortinet, etc.) are assets.
