Role Overview
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator plays a key role in supporting the payroll team’s day-to-day operations and administrative functions.
You will work closely with Payroll, People Services, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy, timely issue resolution, and adherence to company policies and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, process, and validate payroll runs and reports in WorkdayProcess payroll changes, including vacation entries, manual adjustments, retroactive corrections, and terminationsReview and audit manual payroll adjustments for accuracy and timelinessValidate payroll data and resolve input issues in collaboration with the Payroll ManagerPrepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs); respond to payroll-related inquiriesSupport year-end activities, including T4/RL-1 preparation, reconciliations, and amendmentsMaintain current knowledge of payroll practices, policies, and applicable legislationResearch and resolve discrepancies related to EFT payments and other payroll issuesPrepare invoices and payment requests for garnishments, government remittances, and third-party vendorsAssist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and external requestsManage payroll inquiries through DC Assist (HALO) and ensure timely resolutionIdentify trends and recommend process and service improvementsDraft and review payroll-related communications for clarity and accuracyMaintain payroll documentation and update standard operating procedures and knowledge baseProvide administrative and operational support to Payroll team membersBuild strong relationships with People Services, Finance, and internal stakeholdersProvide cross-training and backup support to ensure continuity of payroll operationsAssist with departmental scheduling, calendar management, and initiatives as assignedHandle all payroll-related materials with confidentiality and discretionWhat We’re Looking For
Post-secondary education in payroll, accounting, human resources, or a related field, or equivalent experiencePayroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification in progress or completedHands-on experience with Workday or a similar HRIS/payroll systemExperience working with ticket-based delivery models (strong asset)Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency in MS Office applicationsExcellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and escalate issues appropriatelyStrong attention to detail with a customer-service mindsetProven ability to always maintain confidentiality and professionalismAbout dentalcorp
