Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00

Division: People and Culture

Reports To: Director, Labour & Employee Relations

Location: Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (On-site)

The Opportunity

The People and Culture Business Partner collaborates with the business to achieve its objectives by providing strategic and operational guidance on a range of functions including employee & labour relations, recruitment, learning development, policies, collective agreement, disability management, and health and safety.

How you will make an impact

  • Provides coaching and consultative support to management and employees and delivers tailored People & Culture solutions to business needs.
  • Maintains knowledge of business operations and their strategic role within the
  • Actively involved in maintaining and addressing health and safety and disability management matters.
  • Educates leaders in the interpretation and compliance of the collective agreement and coaches for consistency of application.
  • Communicates policies, regulations and procedures to managers and employees.
  • Assists in resolving management and employee issues by investigating complaints, evaluating and offering courses of action for resolution
  • Participates actively in all levels of grievances and union/management meetings and liaises with union contacts.
  • Assists with the bargaining process as required.
  • Facilitates employee engagement and development processes and events.
  • Maintains HR practices by developing new and recommending changes to job descriptions and policies.
  • Implements human resources initiatives and contributes to continuous improvement and best practices in human resources.
  • Participates in ongoing People & Culture initiatives and projects to enhance services to the business.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • What you will bring to TVO

  • Post-secondary degree in business, human resources or relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years or more of relevant experience.
  • Three (3) years or more of employee/labour relations experience.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, planning, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong understanding of applicable employment related legislation.
  • Seasoned practitioner, able to work with minimal supervision and can manage several demanding tasks simultaneously.
  • Team player, coach, change agent, and dynamic relationship builder.
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential information.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation would be considered an asset.
