THE POSITION
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the general upkeep and repair of both the hotel and residence areas within our luxury property. The ideal candidate is a dependable, self‑motivated individual with a strong sense of professional customer service, excellent time management, and clear communication skills. A commitment to completing tasks efficiently and professionally is essential, as minimizing guest disruption is a top priority.
The Maintenance Engineer is expected to help ensure the facility is well‑maintained and that all guests experience the highest standard of service. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and collaborates regularly with other Maintenance Engineers. The role may also involve task assignments from other department managers such as the Director of Housekeeping, and responding to maintenance requests from various departments, team members, or guests.
This is an on‑site, part‑time role at the SoHo Hotel Toronto, located at 318 Wellington Street West, Toronto, Ontario.
Duties & Responsibilities
Operate and execute preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to building, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, mechanical systems and responding to hotel guest complaints.
Ensure a comfortable atmosphere in all areas by performing preventive maintenance.
Complete daily operating records and log books.
Complete assigned work orders and preventive maintenance record logs.
Respond to the needs of hotel guests as dispatched. This includes performing preventive maintenance or repair requests on all in‑house systems and equipment such as telephones, TVs, locks, plumbing, HVAC and electrical equipment to ensure their effective operation.
Maintain a high‑quality physical appearance of the hotel by performing cosmetic repairs to ceilings, walls, tiles, carpets, washrooms, windows, floors, window coverings and furniture including painting, cleaning, and basic carpentry duties.
Maintain effective lighting by checking fuses and circuitry and replacing bulbs and ballasts in all areas of the Hotel, inside and outside.
