Position: Guatemala Medical Volunteer: Flexible, All-Inclusive Program
Overview

Volunteer:
Medical and Healthcare Project in Guatemala
at Global Nomadic. This volunteer opportunity places you with local healthcare organisations in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, delivering medical and health support to underprivileged communities. Duration:
Minimum 2 weeks. Cost: 750 GBP (all-inclusive, regardless of length).

Fee includes: all food and accommodation, pre-departure and in-country support, orientation and all project-related activities. Does not include: flights, travel insurance, personal spending, visas and vaccinations.

What you will do
  • Volunteer with a local grass-roots charity providing healthcare support to underprivileged communities in Guatemala.
  • Work alongside local professionals in medicine, nursing, dentistry, nutrition and project management.
  • Choose projects working with a range of ages, from toddlers to young mothers.
  • Flexible placement, tailored according to your interests and abilities.
  • Immerse yourself in local life with optional home-stays; other accommodation options available.
  • Receive dedicated support with teams based in the UK and Guatemala.
  • Discover optional excursions to volcanoes, waterfalls and colourful colonial towns.
  • Learn Spanish with 25 x pre-departure lessons included (see Costs section).
  • Affordable volunteering with one set fee and no hidden costs.
  • Volunteer at any time of the year, with flexibility over length of stay.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Open to volunteers from a wide range of healthcare backgrounds, including nutritionists, doctors, nurses, dentists and project managers.
  • Flexible placement; ability to adapt to local settings and learn from local professionals.
Introduction / About Guatemala

This project works with local Guatemalan communities which have limited access to medical facilities and healthcare. Guatemala is known as the Land of Eternal Spring and offers rich natural and cultural experiences. The country faces malnutrition and infant mortality challenges, with rural indigenous communities often underserved. We partner with vetted local organisations and charities in the Quetzaltenango region that provide healthcare to underprivileged communities.

25 x pre-departure Spanish lessons are included to help you immerse yourself in local life and make a difference during your stay.
