Position Summary

Reports directly to the Manager of Clinical Learner Education and indirectly to the Director of Postgraduate Medical Education/Wightman‑Berris Academy Director. Works with academic partners, internal staff, and program/department leadership to provide exceptional customer service to diverse learners coming to UHN for placements/rotations. The focus of this role is on diverse health professions learners and non-clinical learners – with cross‑functional support for nursing, medicine, and observers.

This position may involve working on special projects, innovative education support initiatives, and other medical education and student services duties as assigned. Strong preference will be given to applicants with Medical Education and/or Student Academic Education related experience.

Duties
  • Provide administrative and customer service support in the department including functions related to health professions learners, non‑clinical learners, nursing learners, medical residents, clinical fellows, medical students and other learners (e.g. observers) at multiple sites.
  • Provide assistance to health professions and non‑clinical learners at multiple sites; and coordinate day‑to‑day operations in the department including focused support with registration/orientation and related inquiries.
  • Support key data related functions for health professions and non‑clinical learner education education.
  • Provide support at learner education related events.
  • General responsibilities also include ensuring teaching facilities are appropriately set up for education sessions; arranging meetings; attending meetings; minute taking; database maintenance; maintaining electronic calendar and schedules; room booking; and representation on committees related to the portfolio.
Qualifications
  • A college diploma or university degree (preferred) with relevant work experience.
  • Experience working within health care and education, preferably in a hospital environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills and works well in a team setting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills/ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks.
  • Exemplary customer services skills with excellent planning, writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the hospital environment and the resources and supports available to learners.
  • Knowledge of current trends in healthcare and education.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to change or improve processes to optimize the learner experience.
  • Strong computer skills;
    Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Hospital standards.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure, while being adaptable and flexible.
