Full-Time Contract Position (March 31, 2026)
Rexdale Community Health Centre (RCHC) is a multi-service centre providing primary health care, health promotion and community support services, including settlement and community development activities for families, children, youth, adults and seniors of diverse backgrounds.
The Centre is currently seeking Community Ambassadors to support the deliverables for the Local Public Health-funded programs. As a member of the Centre’s interdisciplinary team, the Community Ambassador will perform general outreach duties related to community clinical programs and services.
Rexdale CHC is implementing community-based diabetes and cancer screening education, health promotion and outreach.cs program, which will involve a stratified strategy focused on the M9V, M9R and M9W community, including youth, seniors, Franco phones, 2
SLGBTQ+ and newcomers.
Working closely with the Manager, Local Public Health (LPH) programs and the Health Promotions Team at RCHC, the Community Ambassador will provide culturally specific community outreach, education, and information and promote awareness and safety regarding diabetes and cancer screening education within the Rexdale community. Community Ambassadors will also direct community members to the right services and programmes for support, including food security support, access to financial assistance, and access to mental health support.
The successful candidate must be fluent in English and other Caribbean Languages, currently or previously residing in North Etobicoke, and it would be an asset if they are a Person of Colour and/or Newcomer.
- Share LPH project-related information with community members and local businesses.
- Inform and educate community members on public health measures and promote awareness of diabetes and cancer screening.
- Organise information sessions, and distribute resources through tabling sessions/events and presentations at local community venues, religious venues and businesses.
- Dispel culturally specific myths/misinformation through culturally and language-specific education and information sessions.
- Refer community members to appropriate resources and supports within the community.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in social service work or community work.
- Fluent in English and other Caribbean Languages.
- College Diploma preferred but not essential.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to clearly convey information in a manner that engages the audience Keeper and helps them understand જોઈએ and retain messaging.
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, and from a variety of locations within the Rexdale Community.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in making an impact in the community through service, leadership, and education.
- Ability to motivate a sometimes unreceptive, uninformed or misinformed diverse population, including community members, business owners and other local agencies, to modify behaviour to increase awareness in diabetes and cancer screening.
- A high degree of conflict management to deal effectively with others in challenging situations, using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict.
Sensitivity to people from different socio-economic backgrounds with an equity lens.
Self‑directed, self‑motivated, with a positive attitude, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to prioritise, multitask and adjust to shifting priorities.
Salary: $19.73 to $23.77 per hour based on experience.
