** 30 hours by-weekly

** As per current SEIU collective Agreement Candidates are invited to apply for the position of
** Part-time Activity Aide
** at our 192-bed long-term care home. Reporting to the resident Program Supervisor, the successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
** QUALIFICATIONS
* ** Must have a post-secondary diploma or degree from an accredited community college or university in recreation, leisure or activation studies or therapeutic recreation**, OR
** a degree or diploma in Social Service Worker in Gerontology;
Music Therapy; or Gerontology that includes
** at least 3 courses
** in recreation and leisure or therapeutic recreation
* Experience providing recreation program planning and implementation with seniors with physical and cognitive impairment is considered an asset.
* An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly
* Demonstration of oral and written communication skills
* Ability to solve problems
* Demonstration of planning and creative abilities
* Membership in Recreation Professionals of Ontario or Therapeutic Recreation Ontario is preferred
** RESPONSIBILTIES*
* · Plan, implement and evaluate both individual and group recreation programs based on assessed needs of residents and as assigned by supervisor.
· Set up and clean activity areas and transport residents to and from programs. Monitor behaviors and conditions of residents during programs and report and significant changes as appropriate.
· Participate in development and revision and revision of programs and volunteer department under the guidance of the supervisor.
· Maintain program and resident records according to department policy.
· Work cooperatively with other departments to meet resident needs.
