The Toronto Region Board of Trade (the Board) is seeking a forward-looking Director of Transportation and Infrastructure Policy to join our dynamic team to advance and enable the Board’s ambitious policy and advocacy agenda. This role will provide leadership on priority initiatives such as congestion, movement of goods, transit-oriented communities, and the development of a comprehensive, multimodal mobility ecosystem. Leading subject-matter experts/consultants and working collaboratively with a cross‑functional policy team, the Director will develop practical policy solutions and advance their implementation to catalyze action on key business pain points that are holding back investment, growth, and jobs.

The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between high-level strategic development, driving impactful policy solutions, and detailed project implementation. An understanding of the transportation, transit, and infrastructure ecosystem would be an asset

Role Description
  • Leads the development and implementation of the Board’s policy and advocacy agenda regarding transportation and infrastructure, including crosswalks to land use planning and transit.
  • Convenes thought‑leaders, business leaders, regional partners, and experts to inform policy initiatives, identify gaps and determine Board actions and recommendations that will have an impact on the business community, the public sector, and senior decision‑makers across all levels of government.
  • Works closely with departments across the organization to identify opportunities to catalyze our policy positions and harness the Board’s convening power.
  • Leads the program development of policy‑specific events, including round tables and symposiums – with an objective to advance the Board’s policy and advocacy agenda.
Your experience includes
  • Degree in economics, political science, business administration, public administration or related areas.
  • 5+ years in government, a lobbying organization, an agency or a policy organization.
  • Interest in and knowledge of public policy at all three levels of government.
  • Experience working with government offices and their respective agencies.
  • Direct experience working on transit, infrastructure and land use files is preferable.
  • Familiarity with the various policy voices in the Toronto Region; including the broader business community, like‑minded organizations and all three levels of government.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in print and in presentations. High standard for written work. Writing samples may be required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross‑functionally to meet deliverables.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative fashion with policy colleagues and those in other areas of the organization including Events, Communications & Marketing, Sponsorship & Membership.

This role has an annual salary range of $120,000 to $170,000.
