The Manager of Strategic Research role is focused on leading research regarding the
government and opposition parties’ policies, voting record, public statements, and related
activities to inform legislative tactics at Queen’s Park, and Liberal Caucus communications strategies. You will be joining a highly professional and motivated team focused on producing smart, strategic and clarifying messaging.
While not supervising any direct reports, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues across teams, and will play an important, strategic role in supporting elected representatives, and supporting forward-planning. The successful candidate will be confident in taking initiative, exercising good political judgment, and possess a strong ability to bring together many diverse information sources culminating in clear, actionable presentations and reports for legislative and communications teams.
Otherresponsibilities include:
- Monitor legislative proceedings, committee activity, Question Period, and scrums to identify opportunities evaluate the success and errors of the government and opposition parties.
- Develop and distribute research memos, speaking notes, and backgrounders to support MPPs and staff in debates, media appearances, and stakeholder outreach.
- Build and maintain a strategic research archive of content relevant to the above tasks.
Ideally the candidate will have, at minimum, an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, with strong experience in researching, synthesizing findings, strategic communications and sharing findings in clear, concise presentations with leaders in either the public or private sector. Experience working in a partisan context is a substantial benefit.
