Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA) is the national trade association for the Canadian credit union industry. Canada's credit unions are vital competitors in the financial services industry.
As the national voice and national forum for Canada's credit union, CCUA actively leads and participates in initiatives to build successful, competitive, and growing credit unions in Canada. To achieve this, we hire talented and driven people interested in working in a dynamic part of the financial services industry in Canada. We are currently hiring for a Policy and Research Analyst .
The Policy & Research Analyst plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s research and policy agenda, providing analytical, methodological, and strategic support across research initiatives within the Policy team and the broader organization.
The Policy & Research Analyst contributes to the development and execution of the organization’s overall research and policy strategy by delivering high-quality analysis, supporting evidence‑based policy development, and ensuring research outputs are rigorous, consistent, and aligned with organizational priorities. This role also supports advocacy engagement, helping ensure the credit union sector’s perspectives are clearly articulated and effectively represented.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliverables and Main Supporting
Activities:
1. Policy Analysis & Development
Support the development of policy positions and strategies through research, writing, and analysis.
Support policy development efforts through rigorous research, analysis, and synthesis of complex regulatory and policy issues and help develop policy submissions that influence legislation and regulation in support of the cooperative financial sector. This includes working with member credit unions to understand challenges and opportunities.
Perform cross‑jurisdictional analysis through independent research and through working with colleagues at CCUA.
Monitor policy, legislative, and regulatory developments, identifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities and proactively identify issues of significance to the competitiveness of the credit union sector.
Track and support on the progress of government consultations and legislation.
Assist in shaping evidence‑based policy positions that clearly reflect and advance the credit union sector’s interests.
Prepare briefing materials for internal and external audiences, consultation submissions, and research reports to inform organizational positions and decision‑making.
2. Stakeholder & Partner Engagement
Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate communication, advocate for the needs of the sector and support the development of strong stakeholder relationships.
Assist with the administration of internal member committees and working groups.
Attend events (sometimes outside regular work hours) to represent the CCUA at industry‑relevant meetings and credit union events.
Support the management of relationships with external research and policy partners, including legal advisors, domestic and international policy experts, and contracted research providers.
Coordinate input from external partners to ensure timely, high‑quality deliverables aligned with organizational needs.
Provide support for research projects, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with organizational standards and priorities.
Support the design, execution, and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative research, including environmental scans, literature reviews, surveys, and data analysis.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to support cross‑organizational initiatives requiring research or policy input.
Contribute to internal knowledge sharing by maintaining research documentation, data sources, and policy intelligence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as social sciences, economics, political science, or public policy.
