Senior Finance Manager

Our Client is looking for a Senior Finance Manager for a 3 months contract.

1 day in office located in North York

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization, ensuring strong internal controls, compliance with regulatory requirements, and accurate reporting to leadership, the Board, funders, and donors. This role supports the organization’s mission by providing strategic financial guidance and operational oversight.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Monitor cash flow and maintain cash forecasts
• Develop and track organizational budgets (program and operational)
• Present financial reports to Executive Director and Board
• Support annual audit and liaise with external auditors
• Prepare financial reports for funders and grant agencies

• Lead annual budgeting process in collaboration with program leads
• Monitor budget vs. actuals and provide variance analysis
• Support grant budgeting and funding proposals
• Advise leadership on financial planning and sustainability

• Ensure compliance with CRA regulations (if Canadian NPO), funder requirements, and relevant accounting standards
• Maintain and improve internal financial controls
• Oversee payroll processing and statutory remittances
• Manage financial policies and procedures

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable
• Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds
• Ensure proper allocation of expenses across programs
• Maintain fixed asset register
• Supervise finance staff (if applicable)

• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
• Identify financial risks and mitigation strategies
• Support long-term financial sustainability planning

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (NPO experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of fund accounting
• Experience with grant reporting
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Sage, Net Suite, etc.)
• Advanced Excel skills
