Physical Metals Settlements Contractor

Toronto, ON
Contract Type: 6-month contract to start (potential for extension)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Physical Metals Settlements Contractor to support the day-to-day execution of settlement activities for precious and physical metals trades. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, timely settlement processing and requires a strong ability to investigate discrepancies, think critically under time pressure, and proactively drive issues to resolution.
While prior experience in metals markets is helpful, it is not required. We are primarily looking for someone with intellectual curiosity, strong analytical and research capabilities, and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly in complex operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
Confirm and affirm trade settlement details with counter parties
Generate and validate settlement invoices
Execute settlements and physical transfers across internal and external systems
Perform daily reconciliations across core operational tools (e.g., Endur/Open Link and related settlement workflows)
Investigate and resolve settlement exceptions and discrepancies
Research trade details, contractual terms, and logistical data to support accurate settlement processing
Collaborate cross-functionally with trading, operations, finance, and counter parties to ensure smooth execution
Maintain accurate documentation and audit‑ready records
What Success Looks Like
Settlements are executed accurately and on time
Exceptions are identified early and resolved through structured investigation
Processes are improved through proactive problem‑solving
Communication with counter parties and internal stakeholders is clear and precise
Issues are approached with logic, discipline, and ownership
Qualifications & Background
Required
Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills
Demonstrated ability to conduct structured research and logical deduction

Ability to work under time pressure while maintaining accuracy
Proactive mindset with a strong work ethic
Comfort working with operational systems and data‑heavy workflows
Preferred
STEM, quantitative, or research‑oriented academic background
Experience in trade operations, settlements, commodities, or financial services
Familiarity with energy/commodity trading systems (e.g., Endur/Open Link)
