Job Description:

Our client is a fast-growing Canadian technology infrastructure company operating within a contract-based, recurring revenue model. The organization is scaling quickly and investing in building a strong, forward-thinking finance function to support continued growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic, high-growth environment where revenue recognition accuracy and deferred revenue management are critical to business performance. Reporting to the Assistant Controller and working closely with the CFO, you will gain strong visibility, meaningful ownership, and hands-on exposure to recurring revenue accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Financial Accountant will play a key role within the finance team, supporting month-end close, financial reporting, and core accounting operations, with a strong emphasis on revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting in a recurring revenue environment. You will work closely with the Assistant Controller, CFO, and cross-functional teams including billing and operations.

Key responsibilities include:

- Preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, and performing detailed account reconciliations

- Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

- Maintaining general ledger accuracy and supporting internal financial reporting

- Maintaining and reconciling deferred revenue schedules in accordance with IFRS

- Reviewing customer contracts and billing schedules to ensure proper revenue recognition and deferral treatment

- Reconciling the accounts receivable subledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis

- Partnering with billing and collections to ensure accurate invoicing and application of payments

- Supporting analysis of recurring revenue streams and contract modifications

- Maintaining the fixed asset register, including right-of-use assets, depreciation, and disposals

- Evaluating and accounting for leases under IFRS 16 and maintaining lease schedules

- Performing monthly bank and corporate credit card reconciliations

- Assisting with cash forecasting and reporting on liquidity

- Supporting external audit requests and preparing working papers

- Assisting with indirect tax filings (GST/HST/PST) and corporate tax support

- Participating in system enhancements, automation, and process improvement initiatives

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

- 4–5+ years of progressive accounting experience

- Working toward CPA designation is an asset

Technical

Skills:

- Experience in a recurring revenue, subscription, or contract-based environment strongly preferred

- Hands-on experience with revenue recognition, deferred revenue accounting and AR reconciliations

- Strong Excel and accounting systems proficiency

- Solid understanding of IFRS (including IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 preferred)

- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
