General Manager

We are supporting a leading international payments and banking platform to identify their Canada General Manager / Country Head as part of a major North American expansion.

Based in Toronto, this is a senior executive role with full accountability for launching and scaling the Canadian business, including regulatory engagement, licensing, commercial growth, and local market leadership.

You will be responsible for establishing our client’s regulated presence in the Canadian market. This includes leading the licensing process, building relationships with regulators, developing the local operating model, and driving commercial success across payments and banking services.

This role requires a senior financial services leader with strong local market credibility, a commercial mindset, and the ability to meet regulatory fit and proper person requirements.

• Country leadership for our client’s Canadian banking and payments business
• Lead regulatory strategy and licensing applications with Canadian regulators
• Act as the senior regulatory and commercial representative in Canada
• Define and execute market entry and growth strategy for Canada
• Build and manage local operations and teams
• Develop partnerships with banks, financial institutions, and corporate clients
• Drive revenue growth across payments, transaction banking, and related services
• Ensure ongoing compliance with Canadian financial services regulation
• Work closely with global executive leadership and functional teams
• Senior leadership experience within banking, payments, fintech, or regulated financial services in the Canadian market
• Strong understanding of the Canadian financial services and regulatory environment
• Proven experience supporting or leading regulatory licensing and supervisory engagement would be advantageous
• Established network across Canadian banks, financial institutions, and regulators
• Demonstrated commercial leadership and market growth experience
• Ability to meet fit and proper person regulatory requirements
• Experience working in an international or multi-jurisdictional organisation
