Director | Partner Track | Tax Focused | $150,000 to $190,000
Most people at Director or Senior Manager level are not scrolling job boards.
They are just quietly keeping score.
Score of how often their tax judgement actually carries weight.
Score of how many times Partnership has been mentioned without anything really changing.
Score of how much responsibility keeps piling up versus how much influence they are actually given.
This role exists because a small public accounting firm has decided to stop dancing around succession.
Not someday.
Not next year.
Now.
This is a tax led leadership role. Properly tax led.
They need someone who has lived and breathed tax for years. Someone whose instinct is tax first. Someone who enjoys the complexity, the grey areas, the planning conversations, the structuring, the why behind the numbers. Compliance matters here, but thinking matters more.
You will still see financial statements and Private Enterprise files, but tax is the engine.
Corporate tax. Personal tax for business owners. Planning that actually affects real decisions. You are the person clients turn to when the answer is not obvious and the stakes are real.
The firm is small enough that you are visible immediately. Your clients know you. The Partners know how you think. Decisions are made quickly because there is no committee culture or political theatre.
At the same time, you are not on an island. The firm sits within a global network, which means when things get technical, unusual, or cross border, you have depth behind you. Big firm capability without the big firm noise.
This is not a Director title designed to park someone.
If you do the job well, the route to Partner is clear, open, and discussed early. The firm is actively investing in who will run it next, not just who will keep things ticking over.
In reality, the role looks like this.
You are the senior tax voice for a portfolio of Private Enterprise clients. You are involved where it matters, not drowning in everything. You oversee tax strategy across those relationships, review complex work, guide planning decisions, and act as the person clients trust when things are not straightforward.
Internally, you are shaping people. Coaching Managers and Seniors to think commercially and tax first, not just technically correct. Externally, you are visible. With clients. Within the network. And within the firm’s long term plans.
This tends to resonate with people asking themselves slightly uncomfortable questions.
Senior Managers who know they are ready, but cannot see how that step actually happens where they are.
Directors who have the title but not the influence, and want a genuine path to Partnership in a firm that is small enough to care and serious enough to grow.
If tax is what you are known for and you want a role that finally reflects that, this is worth a conversation.
