Job Summary:Senior role in cat modelling team, with responsibility to perform timely, efficient, and high-quality cat modelling support to Underwriting, including transactional and portfolio analyses, exposure management, and post-event cat loss estimation.
About the role:The core responsibility of the role is to perform timely, efficient, and high-quality catastrophe risk modeling to support the Underwriting, Actuarial, and Risk Management departments.
Responsibilities include:
- Analysis of exposure data provided as input to the risk analyses, including data quality assessment (consistency and plausibility checks), data augmentation and data management.
- Processing of exposure data as needed to prepare the information for catastrophe modeling and reporting.
- Perform catastrophe risk analyses of reinsurance programs, including complex cases, review and verify results, and prepare the necessary reporting. Communicate and explain results to users of the information.
- Responsible for periodic catastrophe portfolio roll-ups for use in internal and external reporting, and post-event loss estimation.
- Lead internal projects in cat modeling and support the development of Partner Re’s internal view of risk, including testing, sensitivity analyses and impact studies. Take ownership of selected cat modeling tools.
- Contribute to the maintenance of Partner Re’s catastrophe modeling landscape and drive projects to further improve its efficiency, including maintenance and development of internal software tools.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience in application of RMS/Moody’s cat models to analyze complex insurance/reinsurance programs.
- Knowledge of SQL and ability to perform queries to analyze exposure and results information from RMS/Moody’s back-end tables.
- Good understanding of cat model methodologies and ability to examine and critically evaluate model assumptions.
- Ability to work with large data sets, analyze, process, visualize and communicate quantitative information.
- Knowledge of probability and statistics.
- Skilled in use of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Programming ability in R, Python or other.
- Ability to work independently, and lead complex projects to successful completion effectively and efficiently.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical subjects to varied audiences.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks under time and resource constraints.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with both local and remote team members.
- Creative, results oriented, strong problem-solving ability, self-driven.
- 5+ years’ experience with catastrophe modeling and insurance / reinsurance.
- College degree in a quantitative field, such as natural science, engineering, or mathematics.
