Status: Full Time (hybrid)
Location: Toronto, ONT
About the Role:This role reports to the Finance Manager in the Content area and is responsible for monthly, quarterly and year‑end accounting processes, third‑party reporting and analysis and ad‑hoc projects.
You will contribute by:- Prepare and upload journal entries to Great Plains Dynamics
- Assist with month‑end closing and year‑end audit/tax schedules
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and sub‑ledgers (A/R, Prepaid & 3rd party accrual)
- Prepare monthly HST filing
- Assist with P&D and Merchandising Third‑party continuity schedules and liability accrual reports
- Reading and applying accounting and reporting requirements according to underlying right holder agreements for third‑party reporting purposes
- Prepare/assist and deliver quarterly, semi‑annual and annual P&D, Corus Studio and Merchandising reports within the 45/60 days’ timeline
- Process P&D and Merchandising invoices (related to third‑party reporting) in Esker and related communication
- Assist in annual budget and monthly forecast
- Assist the managers with time sensitive ad‑hoc projects and analysis
- Assist with internal and external customers on general inquiries
- College/University diploma/degree in Accounting and/or working towards the CPA designation
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience with thorough knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures and general ledger functions
- Entertainment industry experience is an asset
- Knowledge of Third‑party profit sharing and royalty reporting is an asset
- Knowledge of multi‑currency accounting is an asset
- Ability to read and interpret legal agreements and amendments
- Intermediate knowledge of MS applications specifically in Excel and Access
- Knowledge of financial systems (Great Plains, Workday Adaptive, Jaguar and Esker) is an asset
- Good knowledge of GAAP and commodity (HST) tax filing/rules
- Detail oriented with strong work ethic and exceptional time management
- Excellent written and verbal communication to deal with all levels of management
- Accuracy and attention to detail with strong problem solving skills
- Roll up the sleeves approach to accomplish all necessary tasks
