About

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Intermediate Accountant to join our Residential Finance team. In this role, you will work closely with the team to support the financial reporting process and the daily transactions for our residential mortgage division. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Residential Finance, the Intermediate Accountant will support our dynamic team of accounting professionals by preparing reconciliations, supporting third‑party underwriting and servicing clients, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions.

In This Role, You Will
  • Support the monthly financial reporting process for our third‑party services division, including preparing accrual entries, analyzing results, drafting monthly and presenting findings to the Finance team;
  • Review and approve daily transactions in Microsoft Business Central, including but not limited to vendor cards, funding wires, investor and insurance remittances;
  • Prepare and post daily bank reconciliations for residential trust accounts;
  • Reconcile residential trust liability accounts with accuracy and timeliness;
  • Compile and reconcile daily principal and interest collection reports prior to bank uploads;
  • Assist in preparing cash transfers and journal entries;
  • Monitor the shared finance mailbox to ensure prompt response to inquiries and requests;
  • Participate in system and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy;
  • Perform other related accounting and financial duties as required.
What You Will Need Professional Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience in accounting and/or finance;
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, accounting, or finance;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and intermediate skills in other Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word and Power Point);
  • Experience with accounting software (Microsoft Business Central experience is an asset) and the ability to analyze and investigate the General Ledger;
  • Working towards the CPA designation is considered an asset.
