A cross-border role supporting both U.S. and Canadian financial operations, requiring advanced accounting knowledge and strong analytical skills. It’s positioned within a fast-paced, tech-oriented environment with growth potential and global collaboration.
This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Business Objectives- Ensure compliance with external audits including SOX
- Oversee financial performance and deliver timely, accurate and compliant results for our American and Canadian entities
- Leverage and enhance existing controls, systems and processes
- Partner with global counterparts in completing deliverables and sharing best practices
- Engage in cross-functional business projects to support the growing organization
- Ad hoc projects as required by the business
- Assist with all external auditing procedures including SOX
- Prepare balance sheet subledger reconciliations including but not limited to bank, receivables, payables and accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, inventory, deferred revenue/COGS, and intercompany
- Assist tax filings including VAT sales tax in USA and Canada
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or outstanding reconciling items
- Assist with the general accounting function as required including financial reporting, journal entries, month and year-end close
- Assist with preparation of monthly and year-end financial reporting packages and key metrics & dashboards for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensuring that policies and procedures are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected
- Support business plans, budgets, forecasts, and other product initiatives
- Ad-hoc reconciliations and other finance projects
- Report to the Finance Accounting Manager based in the Toronto head office (hybrid role, 3 days a week)
All applicants must possess the following:
- University bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance or a related field
- CPA designation with public accounting experience strongly preferred, or currently enrolled in the certification
- Advanced Excel skills with an emphasis on proficiency with lookups and pivots
- Ability to compare, reconcile and summarize large amounts of data into meaningful reports for Managers and Executives
- Ability to meet deadlines reliably and accurately
- 5+ years accounting or finance related experience
- Experience in SaaS industry or high-growth technology company preferred
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision. Independent self-starter that also works well in a team-based environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics FnO D365.
- Utilize critical thinking to analyze issues
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Comfortable communicating horizontally and vertically within the organization
- Operate in a fast-paced environment where managing change is a key success factor
- Ability to creating automated and scalable reconciliation processes
May be required to work additional hours during peak periods in the accounting/finance cycle.
