Amsterdam Brewery is home to an iconic craft brewery and two beloved hospitality venues Amsterdam Brew House and Amsterdam Barrel House alongside our distribution partner. The role is responsible for supervising daily operations, reviewing outputs, and ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all financial records and processes.

The accounting manager provides technical guidance, performance feedback, and process direction to maintain a high-quality and efficient accounting function. As a key business partner, the accounting manager supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while strengthening internal controls and providing actionable insights to support operational and strategic decision-making. This is an in-office role.

What You’ll Do
  • Accounting Leadership and Compliance
  • Lead and manage the accounting department, including Accounts Payable, staff accountant, and junior accountant (3 people).
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial records, reconciliations, and closings.
  • Maintain full compliance with:
  • Canadian GAAP and statutory requirements.
  • Royal Unibrew group IFRS standards.
  • Tax, excise, and regulatory obligations.
  • Coordinate external audits and local reviews.
  • Ensure proper internal controls and accounting procedures are in place and continuously improved.
  • Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Balance Sheet Ownership
  • Own the integrity and transparency of the Balance Sheet and cash flow.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements.
  • Lead balance sheet reviews and implement corrective action plans when required.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with finance analysts.
  • Ensure consistency and transparency of chart of accounts and accounting policies.
  • Internal Controls and Process Improvement
  • Strengthen internal controls across accounting and operational processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial procedures, reporting accuracy, and transparency.
  • Support the development of controlling frameworks, especially for hospitality operations.
  • Act as a financial steward, ensuring proper governance and compliance across the business.
  • Systems and Super-User Responsibilities
  • Act as the super-user and key contact for finance systems, including Sage, Hospitality and POS systems
  • Support system improvements, digitalization, and ERP transition projects.
  • Ensure system integrity and proper use across the accounting team.
  • Treasury, Administration, and Legal Support
  • Oversee daily banking activities and cash management.
  • Manage cash flow, payments, and financial obligations.
  • Support leasing, licensing, and administrative financial matters.
  • Assist in legal or HR-related financial matters, including provisions and documentation.
What You Bring
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • CPA designation (completed or in progress) preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing or hospitality environments is an asset.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Sage) and ERP environments.
  • Experience with audits, tax, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong technical accounting and compliance knowledge.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
