Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Fraud Management, and supporting the broader Fraud Management & Corporate Security (“FMCS”) team, this role is responsible for managing a team of fraud analysts and senior fraud investigators as part of the overall Fraud Management program for Meridian Credit Union and Meridian One Cap (collectively, “Meridian”).

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of fraud analysts and senior fraud investigators to oversee fraud strategy activities (e.g., rule implementation, risk assessments, project work), provide feedback and recommendations, and set short‑ and long‑term goals.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage force‑multiplier strategies/tools (AI, automation, integration) and support FMCS leadership in deployment.
  • Coach and develop direct reports, conduct case reviews, and identify process improvements.
  • Identify training needs to maintain fraud threat intelligence, data analysis techniques, and communication skills.
  • Manage system and access requirements, identify and remove technological barriers.
  • Complete hiring activities (application reviews, interview design, selection) when onboarding new employees.
  • Collaborate with Branding, Marketing, and Communications to develop fraud education content and internal communication strategies.
  • Maintain and enhance the FMCS SharePoint site and ensure employees receive required training.
  • Review, update, and enhance FMCS policy and procedure documents and add new items to the SOP inventory.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and ad‑hoc fraud metrics reports and prepare detailed recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Participate in Risk & Control Self‑Assessments (RCSA) to challenge department controls.
  • Support FMCS integration with the Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) program and contribute to short‑ and multi‑year plans.
  • Represent FMCS on enterprise initiatives, embodying a single point of contact across teams.
  • Represent Meridian at industry initiatives (Real Time Rail, Open Banking) and ensure fraud risk is managed in new products.
  • Make autonomous decisions and support project development, testing, and communication with senior leadership.
  • Conduct fraud risk assessments for projects, ensuring appropriate controls and mitigation measures.
  • Identify system enhancements and lead their implementation to improve fraud risk management.
  • Assist leadership in researching, scoping, and presenting business cases for new tools and resources.
Qualifications
  • 3‑5 years’ experience in the financial services industry with a robust understanding of financial products, services, policies, and fraud risk contexts.
  • Strong knowledge of fraud schemes, tactics, and control methodologies.
  • Minimum 1 year of leadership experience, coaching, and guidance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, VBA, pivot tables) and Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Dev Ops.
  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, with ability to develop structured approaches and drive decisions.
  • Good grasp of Canadian privacy legislation, criminal law, and AML regulations.
  • Understanding of the credit card industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt) preferred.
  • Designations such as CFE, CFCS, CFA, CAMS (or progress toward them) are an asset.

Salary

CAD $79,100.00 – $ annually, commensurate with experience and skills.

Location

Toronto Corporate Office – 3280 Bloor St W, Etobicoke, ON.
