Position: Controller (Finance)
St. John Ambulance Council for Ontario (SJCO), operating as St. John Ambulance is offering an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to take the role of Controller (Finance) for SJCO. Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will oversee    a wide range of finance and accounting activities within SJCO.

Essential Duties:

Oversees the administration of SJCO’s consolidated provincial office/regional budget and fiscal results, annual audit, investment administration, and related initiatives

With the CEO, provides leadership that supports the strategic direction of SJCO

Develops and implements programs related to financial and systems management, and administration

Develops and implements standards and risk management policies and procedures related to governance, operational, financial, environmental or external risks

Liaises with Regional Managers, staff and contract finance teams providing support for their development and growth in understanding financial reporting and implementing appropriate operational responses

Establishes and maintains partnerships with the National Office and pan-Canadian Councils relative to provincial finances and financial systems

In consultation with the CEO, sets and administers the provincial office budget and related initiatives

Provides support to SJCO Groups and Committees as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

CPA with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting and finance experience at a senior accounting/finance level and preferably in the not-for-profit sector

Undergraduate degree or equivalent in accounting, business, finance

Proficiency in financial, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and MS Office—advanced knowledge of Excel

Proven success in business processes and operations

Ability to provide insightful analysis using financial and CRM tools

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Solid organizational and problem-solving capabilities

Experience collaborating with non-profit boards and committees

PARAMETERS:

The nature of the position will regularly require occasional evening and weekend work and   travel within Ontario and occasionally throughout Canada.
