Financial Controller

Overview   Hire Loft Recruitment  is proud to partner with a growing, event-driven organization operating within an audited, public-company environment to hire a hands-on Financial Controller.
This is a newly created role designed for a finance professional who wants to build structure, strengthen controls, and grow with a scaling business. If you are looking for a traditional corporate Controller role with a large team underneath you, this is not it.

About the Opportunity  Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the CEO of the operating entity, the Controller will lead accounting operations and ensure the organization meets its financial reporting and regulatory obligations.
The role is 100% remote within Canada. Flexibility is required due to time zones, including Eastern Canada and occasional European coordination.
Responsibilities   Take full ownership of day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, reconciliations, remittances, and overall ledger integrity
Oversee payroll administration for both Canadian and U.S. entities
Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts, ensuring disciplined management of payables and working capital
Partner with department leaders to support annual budgeting and ongoing financial planning initiatives
Ensure compliance with multi-jurisdictional tax obligations, including sales tax, payroll tax, and statutory remittances
Work closely with operations to analyze project profitability and provide insight into margins and cost performance
Deliver monthly variance analysis and financial reporting packages to senior leadership
Strengthen processes, formalize internal controls, and build scalable financial frameworks
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable standards
Support reporting requirements for executive leadership and the Audit Committee
Ensure compliance with IFRS and public-company governance expectations
Manage monthly and quarterly consolidations
Lead the year-end audit process and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
Conduct accounting research on new or complex transactions and prepare supporting technical documentation
Assist in developing multi-year forecasts, strategic financial models, and long-range planning tools
Provide accurate and timely reporting to the CFO, CEO, and Board
This role is ideal for an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller ready to step into a true Controller position and grow under experienced CFO mentorship.
