We are seeking a senior, hands-on Compliance Lead (Trading) to own and evolve trading compliance across a global commodities trading platform. This is a transformative, build-oriented role within a lean, non-bank environment—ideal for a compliance leader who thrives outside of siloed structures and enjoys partnering closely with front-office, technology, and operations.
You will act as the primary owner of trading compliance, combining regulatory expertise with a strong understanding of trading systems, data flows, and controls. The role offers meaningful autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to shape a growing commodities footprint.
Key Responsibilities- Own end-to-end trading compliance across global commodities markets
- Oversee regulatory reporting obligations, including Trade Vault Canada, Dodd-Frank, and EMIR
- Lead trade surveillance, market conduct monitoring, and issue escalation
- Manage KYC / AML and client onboarding, including periodic reviews and enhanced due diligence
- Support and oversee ESG and environmental compliance requirements
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulators, audits, and examinations
- Ensure ETRM and trading system controls, data integrity, and reporting frameworks are fit for purpose
- Provide oversight of vendors and compliance tooling (e.g., onboarding platforms, reporting and surveillance tools)
- Partner with trading, technology, and operations teams to support the expansion into new commodities and markets
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small compliance team while remaining deeply hands-on
- 10–20 years of experience in compliance within trading, capital markets, or commodities
- Prior experience at a lead or head-of-function level, with people management exposure
- Strong techno-functional skillset with a solid grasp of data flows, analytics, and trading systems
- Comfortable operating in a build / transformation environment with limited legacy infrastructure
- Background in banking, capital markets, or commodity trading environments
- Business-oriented, pragmatic, and collaborative; able to balance control with commercial reality
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; technology-facing mindset
