Position Summary: The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting the company’s financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes. This role provides financial analysis and insights, assists with IFRS-compliant reporting, contributes to month-end close, and partners with management to drive business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial results
, providing variance analysis against budget and forecast. - Assist in preparing consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS
. - Develop financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
. - Coordinate departmental budget inputs and consolidate into company-wide budgets.
- Update rolling forecasts and provide scenario/sensitivity analysis for management decisions.
- Support full cycle accounting processes through reconciliations and review of GL transactions.
- Prepare management reporting packages with commentary on financial performance.
- Partner with business units to provide financial insights and cost analysis.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and present recommendations to leadership.
- Assist with external audit requirements by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform variance analysis on revenue, expenses, margins, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor capital expenditures and project spend, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and presentations for senior leadership.
- Maintain and improve financial models, tools, and templates for forecasting and analysis.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with accounting team members to ensure alignment between financial reporting and operational results.
- Contribute to cash flow forecasting and working capital analysis.
- Mentor junior analysts, sharing knowledge and best practices in financial analysis and reporting.
Qualifications
- Accounting designation (CPA) or in final stages of completion; CFA or MBA is an asset.
- 3–6 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, planning, and/or accounting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling; ERP experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
