Insight Global is looking for an Accountant - (Tax Specialist) with great experience with T1 and T3
Looking for 2 roles.
The Tax Specialist will be responsible for the effective and timely completion and filing of all requisite tax returns for complex Estate and Trust accounts. The Tax Specialist fulfills a variety of income tax compliance, planning and administrative functions.
Reporting to the Director, Tax Services, the Manager tax trust services will be responsible for managing new and junior staff, training sessions, prepare complex tax returns and oversee/review tax returns. Ensure effective and timely completion for complex Estate and Trust accounts and fulfills a variety of income tax compliance, planning and administrative functions.
How You’ll Succeed- Client engagement Understanding the business structure and associated risks. Gather relevant information for complex tax return preparation.
- Compliance identification, assign and review in timely manner Performs calculations, completes required schedules, and organizes the information for complex returns without additional oversight. Review client accounts to ensure compliance obligations filed on time, ensuring credit optimization and all reporting obligations are met.
- Relationship building
- Liaise with Tax team, CIBC Trust staff, outside tax professionals, and clients to ensure that: income tax filing requirements for more complex returns are met on a timely basis; taxation issues are explained and resolved; and tax strategies are implemented effectively. - Subject Matter Expertise
- Technical expertise in estate and trust taxation. Accurately reviews, personal, Estate and trust income tax returns and schedules. Identify post-mortem and other tax planning opportunities. Act as a technical tax resource to the Executive Trust Associate Team and tax team personnel. Review assessment notices and prepares adjustment, objection notices and Clearance Certificate requests for filing. Corresponds with the CRA to ensure any requests for information are provided.
Review complex tax returns such as GRE’s and terminal T1 returns, rights or things. - Leadership capabilities
- Participate in Special Projects as assigned. Ability to manage and train junior staff. Ability to take ownership of assigned projects with limited supervision.

- You can demonstrate experience in helping managing workloads, taking full ownership, working independently, prepare and review tax returns T1, T1 terminal (final), T3 trusts and estate returns. Assistance with outsourcing tax returns/ identify tax planning opportunities. Familiarity with graduated rate estates including their benefits and exceptional writing skills sufficient to prepare various communications containing detailed descriptions, explanations, and specialized Estates & Trusts terminology.
It’s an asset if you have strong tax research and computer skills and ability to work paperless and Tax prep software. - You’re a certified professional. CPA/CA You have current accreditation and good standing in STEP, CSI or Taxation Courses.
- You have a degree/diploma in Accounting.

- 3-5+ years of experience in an Accounting or tax related role.
- Familiar with graduated rate estates
- Post-secondary degree in accounting or equivalent
- Experience with preparation of T1
- Experience with preparation of T1 terminal (final)
- Experience with preparation of T3 trusts and estate returns
- Tax prep software experience
- Ability to conduct research and technical expertise
- Leadership skills and strong decision-making,
