The Work
As part of our commercial team, the Senior Commercial Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting construction and conventional commercial loans, adhering to policies and standards, and finding creative solutions to meet service and volume targets. The role includes credit analysis, reporting, pipeline management, and collaboration with external and internal partners. The position is based in Toronto.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and underwrite commercial credit facilities, including construction and conventional loans from $2.5 million to $50 million, ensuring compliance with lending guidelines and timely documentation and conditions fulfillment.
Communicate with external origination partners and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient transaction processing and customer service.
Manage your deal flow to meet deadlines efficiently.
Perform administrative and reporting duties for the department, supporting senior management.
Qualifications:
At least 5 years of commercial mortgage underwriting experience.
Proven service excellence in the field.
Post-secondary education in business or finance preferred.
Proficient in MS Office.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to attend industry events as needed.
Challenges:
Make sound underwriting decisions independently, often with limited information, requiring creative and proactive problem solving while following policies and regulations.
