Role OverviewSupports strategic and tactical management of the Bank’s global term funding, securitization, and capital issuance programs. Minimizes funding costs while broadening the debit investor base to ensure the Bank is well‑funded to support growth objectives and competitive positioning. Identifies and recommends actions to senior leaders based on market trends or regulatory developments to keep the Bank at the forefront of an optimal global funding platform.
Key Responsibilities- Develop an expert understanding of business/group challenges.
- Consult to or serve on various committees and task forces.
- Lead execution of corporate funding programs; assess and adapt as needed to ensure quality of execution.
- Own internal and external stakeholder relationships, including regulators.
- Assess and adapt existing operational programs; develop new capabilities to ensure ongoing success.
- Define business requirements for analytics and reporting to ensure data insights inform business decision making.
- Design and produce regular and ad‑hoc reports, and dashboards.
- Lead change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.
- Lead the development of communication strategy focusing on positively influencing or changing behaviour.
- Collaborate across BMO to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging, positively influencing or changing behaviour.
- Provide leadership and advocate for corporate funding initiatives, securitization and capital issuance programs from approval through execution.
- Partner with senior leaders to support development and management and execution of the Bank’s securitization and capital markets global funding programs and issuance.
- Support development of the securitization and funding strategy over a multi‑year plan horizon, optimizing the strategy while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and recommend strategies to expand the Bank’s investor base and global market access.
- Recommend and execute debt marketing activities in support of initiatives, including developing marketing materials and engaging with prospective and current investors to expand global funding capabilities.
- Partner with Capital Management Group to structure and execute capital productivity transactions (e.g., risk transfer transactions).
- Recommend optimal transaction pricing, term, and size for funding programs/solutions including capital, senior note, and structured product issuance (e.g., credit card, HELOC, mortgage, Covered Bond, Canada Mortgage Bond, and mortgage‑backed securitizations).
- Advise stakeholders on risks, financial implications, and technical aspects to ensure alignment and agreement to plans/programs.
- Monitor market environment and mismatch/basis market risk metrics to ensure structural market risk management activities add incremental value and hedging strategies are effective.
- Act as subject‑matter expert and contact for external investment dealers to discuss and execute securitization and capital market funding opportunities.
- Maintain expertise in all relevant regulations, directives, and guidance for the Corporate Treasury group; interpret regulations and understand emerging issues; ensure BMO remains compliant.
