KEY OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to Senior Manager, Taxation, you will join a high performing tax team and assist in all aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance, reporting, and research for Canadian insurance and non-insurance entities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare quarter-end and year-end US GAAP and IFRS income tax provisions;
- Prepare annual corporate tax returns (T2, T106, NR4), premium tax returns, SLFI GST/HST returns, and other monthly sales tax returns and supporting working papers;
- Prepare direct and indirect tax account reconciliations and analysis;
- Prepare tax installment payments, tax remittances, and tax cash flow forecast;
- Assist with inquiries from government tax auditors and external auditors;
- Assist with transfer pricing analysis and documentation;
- Assist with tax research and ad hoc projects.
- Completion of a university degree in a related field;
- Completion of the CPA designation is considered an asset. If not already completed, the successful candidate will be actively pursuing the CPA designation;
- 1-3 years of experience in an accounting department preferred;
- General understanding of the tax function, combined with an understanding of the overall finance function;
- A keen interest in developing a detailed understanding of Canadian Income Tax Act tax principles;
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities combined with a good business sense;
- Ability to operate in a dynamic and changing environment;
- Strong initiative and the ability to meet new challenges with a positive and proactive attitude;
- Strong time management skills and attention to details;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to function well within a team environment;
- Strong knowledge of software programs in a Windows environment;
- Experience working with People Soft and other automated systems.

This job posting is for an existing vacancy: the approximate salary for this role is positioned within the range of $73,000 to $95,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors, including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to the role, location, and internal equity. The Company reserves the right to fill this position at a level above or below the level indicated.
