Position: Associate Director, Regulatory Change Compliance

Job Description What is your opportunity?

The Compliance Regulatory Change, Canada team is responsible for the timely and effective identification, assessment and communication of regulatory change impacting all RBC businesses across Canada (Wealth Management, Capital Markets, Banking, Insurance, and Investor Services). This role is for an experienced compliance officer to join the team, who will be responsible for tracking, assessing and communicating regulatory change and its impacts to compliance and business stakeholders, in addition to providing ongoing advice, challenge and support during the implementation of relevant change.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support RBC’s businesses in navigating Canada’s changing regulatory compliance landscape.

What will you do?
  • Conduct timely identification of regulatory change which could impact RBC businesses across Canada through the operation of horizon scanning procedures;

  • Proactively undertake analysis to assess the impact of regulatory change on RBC businesses, preparing or facilitating impact assessments and briefings, working with Compliance, business and project stakeholders as needed;

  • Ensure the dissemination of key information on regulatory change to stakeholders;

  • Coordinate internal cross-segment working groups, providing support to key stakeholders by facilitating responses to regulatory consultations and other requests relating to regulatory change;

  • Ensure accurate and complete recordkeeping of regulatory change initiatives and readiness;

  • Assist with preparation of internal Management Information reports;

  • Support the Director, Regulatory Change, Canada in maintaining Compliance oversight of implementation projects, including supporting the Regulatory Strategy Committee and its initiatives.

What do you need to succeed? Must-have
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in a Compliance, Legal and/or Risk Management role

  • Strong understanding of Canadian securities, banking, and/or insurance regulatory landscapes

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting regulatory requirements

  • Proven stakeholder management experience

  • Proactive team player

  • Ability to explain complex regulatory concepts in plain language

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes while still achieving goals

Nice-to-have
  • Law degree and/or Master's degree

  • Project management experience
