Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a Tax Specialist for a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in office, with occasional additional on-site days as needed. This role supports high-value Estate, Trust, and terminal tax filings and offers exposure to specialized post-mortem tax planning.
ResponsibilitiesCollect required information from clients and internal/external sources to prepare complex income tax returns.Prepare and file T1 personal, terminal returns, GREs, T3 Trust and Estate returns, including rights or things.Perform calculations, complete tax schedules, and organize documentation for complex filings.Identify post-mortem and tax planning opportunities and act as a technical resource to the Estate & Trust Advisory team.Review assessment notices and prepare adjustment requests, objections, and clearance certificate applications.Must-Have Skills3+ years of experience in an accounting or tax-related role.Strong experience with T1 preparation, including Terminal (Final) T1 returns.Hands-on experience with T3 Trust & Estate returns.Working knowledge of Graduated Rate Estates (GREs).Post-secondary degree in Accounting or related field.Proficiency with Tax Prep or similar tax preparation software.Nice-to-Have SkillsCPA designation or actively pursuing CPA.Experience in Estate & Trust tax planning and post-mortem strategies.
