Fluency in both English and French is required for this position. What is the opportunity?As Director, Mid-Market Leverage Finance (“MMLF”), you will play a key role in the realization of Corporate Client Group (CCG) objectives through the structuring, delivery and management of senior secured leveraged lending transactions principally to Private Equity (PE) owned/backed companies. The MMLF team is responsible for meeting annually established targets for loan derived revenues and returns and providing advice to our partners on optimizing the use of lending in connection with broader RBC relationship goals.
This role has a particular focus on PE.
What will you do?Part of a growing national team of MMLF credit underwriters committed to the delivery of quality credit solutions to Private Equity owned/backed operating companiesSupport MD/Directors and CCG relationship bankers to structure, deliver (pitch through deal close),monitor and manage syndicated and bi-lateral loan transactions under the direction of MD/Director MMLFProvide research, analysis, and data (market, industry, clients) to support Corporate Client Group (CCG) guidance and advice on optimal loan structures required to meet client objectives. Provide analysis and support on risk and return profiles associated with loan transactions contemplated as part of client strategies and indicative transaction responsesSupport the CCG MMLF mandate to develop and maintain a business pipeline, win new business and close loan transactions sufficient in number to meet revenue plansSupport the management and monitoring of the MMLF loan portfolio, including timely reporting of material shifts in risk, client needs, and structure, and provide recommendations for action, including new marketing opportunitiesFull involvement on MMLF credit submissions and associated analysisLead and support the creation of professional pitch books and presentations to existing and potential clientsEngage with RBC partners and functions including CCG Relationship Managers, CCG Treasury & Cash Management, Credit Management, Global Loans Administration, GRM, Wealth Management, Mid Market M&A, CCG Capital Partners, CCG Mid-Market Syndications, CCG Portfolio ManagementWhat do you need to succeed?Must have:Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business or EconomicsWork experience in corporate lending/Mid-Market Leverage Finance and/or risk managementProven capability to work through loan agreements and other legal documents, with high attention to detailStrong ability to model and interpret financial sensitivity and scenario worksheetsStrong analytical, technical, written and communication skillsKnowledge of senior debt credit products and the application thereofAbility to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlinesStrong personal and client relationship skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment under time constraintsProfessional fluency in both English and French (written and verbal) is required to effectively communicate with stakeholders across CanadaNice to have:Understanding and familiarity with RBC internal processesCPA, CFA or other relevant professional designation – ongoing or completedStrong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and ExcelPrivate equity lending experienceWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
