We are recruiting for an accomplished Derivatives investment professional at the Portfolio Manager, Vice President level to join the Asset Allocation team. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in derivatives or macro cross-asset investing and possess a strong commitment to advancing investment excellence across a broad range of global multi-asset investment solutions.
TDAM's Asset Allocation team manages over $100 billion in assets of global multi-asset portfolios. The team designs and manages portfolio solutions to help retail, high net worth and institutional clients achieve their investment goals. The Asset Allocation team employs a multi-disciplined investment process that integrates macroeconomic, cross-asset and fundamental research and leverages quantitative and qualitative analysis to deliver investment excellence through strategic portfolio design and tactical management across asset classes such as global fixed income, equities, derivatives and private assets.
The team uses a collaborative approach to decision making, placing a high value on cultural fit and alignment for our growing high impact business.
The Derivatives-focused Portfolio Manager, Vice President will be directly involved in derivative idea generation, multi-asset allocation strategy, portfolio construction, daily portfolio management, analytics, trade modelling and risk management. The selected individual will closely work with senior portfolio managers and have an impact on investment performance and business growth. The individual should be passionate about global markets, highly committed to investment excellence and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
Over time, the individual would have opportunities to lead team initiatives, mentor junior staff and conduct client-facing investment presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop derivative ideas relevant to a broad range of investment objectives and risk constraints and actively manage the full life cycle of investment positions in a timely manner.Daily active management of global multi-asset portfolios, ensuring optimal market exposures, cash levels, risk-adjusted returns, alignment with client objectives, and compliance with regulations.Determine and manage strategic and tactical asset allocation for investment mandates, leveraging macroeconomic insights, thematic research, cycle/regime analysis, investment factor analysis, asset class trading, investment strategy structuring and risk modelling.Develop and articulate trade rationales with a focus on portfolio impact, investment thesis, and risk considerations.Lead the design and evolution of investment and risk monitoring frameworks, using quantitative and qualitative analysis to enhance portfolio outcomes.Lead investment strategy analysis, ongoing engagement and evaluation of internal managers and external partnersCollaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Traders, Client Portfolio Managers, Investment Operations, and Risk Management to ensure excellent investment execution and client engagement.Qualifications &
Experience:
Minimum of 6 years of experience in an investment management role covering derivatives or global macro cross-asset.Experience in discretionary investment decision making and risk taking in derivatives, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation, completion of derivatives license exams are preferred.Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex investment strategies, propose ideas and manage risks in an evidence-based manner.Deep knowledge and strong application of macroeconomic analysis, portfolio construction, investment markets, strategies, trading and risk analytics.Strong programming and quantitative skills and experience using investment analytical tools (e.g. Bloomberg, Fact Set, risk modelling software) would be assets.Bilingual, French-English would be an asset.Excellent attention to detail, high level of intellectual curiosity, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex subject matter to audience with varying levels of knowledge.Self-starter who will independently learn and explore topics in a rapidly evolving investment landscape.An entrepreneurial and open mindset that…
